Hello! I'm an educator and historian of the built environmentMy research focuses on intersections between material, labor, housing design, urban development, and representation. I work with digital humanities to influence the recovery of cultures and histories that were mischaracterized, displaced, condemned, or erased under discourses of modernity and progress. I am currently researching the expanding pedagogical landscape of cultural heritage and historic preservation and exploring issues of equity in preservation practice.
My scholarship bridges temporal and geographic boundaries, from global colonial translations of land and property through buildings and plans in the 16th-18th century, to American Imperial expansionism in the 19th century and the uneven development of U.S. cities in the 20th century. |
